How does basketball scoring work?
A free throw is worth one point. A field goal is usually worth two or three.
Under standard five-a-side rules, a basket shot from beyond the three-point line earns three points. A field goal from on or inside the line earns two. The line’s distance varies between competitions.

Why does tennis scoring go 15, 30, 40?
Those are traditional point labels; their exact historical origin is uncertain.
In a standard game, scores progress from love to 15, 30 and 40. At 40–40, called deuce, a player normally needs two consecutive points to win. Some competitions use no-ad scoring, and tiebreaks use ordinary numbers.
How many players are on a football team?
In association football, also called soccer, each team starts with up to 11 players on the field, including one goalkeeper.
A standard match cannot start or continue if either team has fewer than seven players. Other forms of football and smaller-sided games have different team sizes.
